Rose

Well these lines dedicated to the rose are picked from our dear Shakespeare…

O! how much more doth beauty beauteous seem
By that sweet ornament which truth doth give.
The rose looks fair, but fairer we it deem
For that sweet odour, which doth in it live.
The canker blooms have full as deep a dye
As the perfumed tincture of the roses,
Hang on such thorns, and play as wantonly
When summer’s breath their masked buds discloses:
But, for their virtue only is their show,
They live unwoo’d, and unrespected fade;
Die to themselves. Sweet roses do not so;
Of their sweet deaths are sweetest odours made:
And so of you, beauteous and lovely youth,
When that shall vade, my verse distills your truth.

Anecdote: Well that fact that I am not trained with sketching is well known… but I would like to acknowledge that I would not have learnt sketching but for two reasons ‘jealousy’ and ‘my brother’. A li’l of both to be exact.

This is a sketch made by my brother ages ago… a sketch that made me cry for nights together because I could not better it… ( well my bro had to hide it for some time I guess… can’t remember that bit clearly but was very jealous…)

In any case this was the sketch that motivated me to make sketches literally in every page of every copy book I ever owned till I finally manage to sketch something decent. But at times there is a simplistic beauty in this sketch that still drives me mad ( coz I still don’t get it right)

Well I did make the same sketch which was given to a friend as a gift…

    उन्हें गुलाब की कोपलों से यूं न छुपाओ, क्यों की….
    ये आखें वैसे भी सब कुछ बयाँ कर देती हैं….

    on a lighter note:
    क्या अदा क्या जलवे तेरे पारो… ओ पारो ! :)
